On June 24, the 5,000th University of Delaware alum registered on UDconnection.com. As Blue Hens flock to the online community, the University of Delaware is responding to its growth by adding four new free features to UDconnection.com. Users can now take advantage of profile commenting, resume uploading, RSS feeds and an improved UDconnection.com search capability. - Whether a short hello to a long-lost former roommate or a detailed description of a great party that your friend missed while on vacation, Profile Commenting is a great way to get and stay in touch. In addition comments require the approval of all parties before being posted, so security and privacy are ensured.
- Looking for a new job? Looking to hire a fellow alum? Looking for Blue Hens in your field? With the online community's new Resume Uploading Tool, users can post their resume for all to see. Combined with the new global search capabilities (see below), UDconnection.com can help you find your next job, employee or contact.
- The final new addition to UDConnection.com is an improved search capability. With the new Global Search, users looking to connect with other alums will be able to perform more specific searches. In addition to the basic and advance people search, now you can search class notes, posted resumes, the events calendar and alumni club pages.
- The addition of RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feeds to UDConnection.com makes keeping track of alumni events and happenings easier. Subscribing to an RSS feed is like subscribing to a magazine that is delivered to you, but as opposed to the magazine coming in the mail, it is delivered to your ‘RSS Reader' every time a website updates. Instead of going to a site to see if new content has been added, the web site comes to you to let you know when it has updated information. By subscribing to the Events Feed on UDConnection.com, every time an alumni event is added, you will be notified in your RSS Reader. By using RSS, you make the internet come to you! Look for the RSS icon -
- for pages that are RSS capable. For a more in-depth explanation of RSS, visit problogger's What is RSS?.
As the online community grows and thrives, the University of Delaware will continue to improve the community so your experience as an alum is as good your experience as a student. |
