Top 10 - How to Get Involved with UD?

The University of Delaware wants you! Regardless if your days as a student are a distant memory or if you're fresh off campus, you'll always be a Blue Hen. UD offers several opportunities for alumni to stay involved with the University and their fellow classmates, including volunteer opportunities and helping students through mentorship, internships and employment. In addition, alumni are invited to attend Commencement and Parents & Family Weekend. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Read on and see more ways to get involved with your alma mater. Without further ado, the Top 10 Ways How to Get Involved with UD:

1. Register for the new alumni online community at UDconnection.com - Looking for an old friend or roommate? Want to share your latest personal news and accomplishments? Searching for information on Homecoming? Now you can do it all in one place, UDconnection.com. The University of Delaware and the UD Alumni Association (UDAA) have teamed up to bring alums a vibrant online community, so register and get active.

2. Participate in your Alumni Club or organize and lead an affinity group - UD Alumni Clubs are located throughout the United States. Get in touch with your local chapter leader and see how you can help out. Also satellite groups exist for several specific groups on campus. Check out all of the chapter and affinity groups online to see which one is best for you.

3. Get a UD License plate - Official University of Delaware specialty license plates are currently available in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Pimp My Ride indeed!

4. Be a mentor at Career Services - The Career Services Center offers the Alumni Mentor Program to give registered students and alumni the opportunity to connect in order to share important career information. What better way to develop and expand those very important career networks.

5. Get on the Board - The UD Alumni Association is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Volunteers are always needed to serve on the board, serve on committees as members-at-large and participate in our programs and services.

6. Get hitched and celebrate -Interested in having your wedding or special celebration on campus? There are several locations that can assist. Visit the Blue & Gold Club website or the Office of Conference Services website for more information.

7. VAST - Share your love of Delaware as a Volunteer Admissions Support Team (VAST) member. Recruit new students at college fairs and high schools in your area.

8. Get a UD Credit Card - Each time you use your UD credit card for a purchase, the UDAA is able to support student scholarships, faculty and student programs - at no additional cost to you. To date, the card issuer, Bank of America, has given back over $3 million to UD for these important programs.

9. Come back for Homecoming - 2008 Homecoming Weekend, October 17-19. Return to your old stomping grounds and be greeted like a returning hero.

10. Give back and donate - Tuition covers only a fraction of the cost of attending the University of Delaware. The remaining percent comes from donations, many made by generous alumni who make the UD experience possible for today's students, just as alums before them did for their generation. Giving can be specifically targeted to certain colleges, departments and programs, or it can be a donation into the general fund which is used for projects such as stuff, other stuff and more stuff.
